The Duke of Sussex attended his father's Coronation at Westminster Abbey, sitting two rows behind his brother, the Prince of Wales. He arrived without his wife Meghan, who remained in the US, and left immediately after the service for a return flight to Los Angeles.
The BBC understands Prince Harry was not invited to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony following the ceremony. He was seen leaving the abbey alone shortly after the service concluded, and boarded a British Airways flight from Heathrow. He arrived back in Los Angeles at 19:30 local time on Saturday.
Prince Harry wore a morning suit and medals, and sat in the third row with his cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, as well as his uncle the Duke of York. The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their children, sat in the front row. The Duchess of Sussex remained in California with their children, where son Archie celebrated his fourth birthday.
This was the first public appearance with his family since the publication of his memoir Spare, which strained relations. It was already known that Harry would attend alone and have no formal role, as he is not a working royal. The decision for Meghan to decline the invitation was widely seen as part of ongoing family tensions.
