Prince Harry Arrives in UK Solo After Palace Withdraws Offer

Prince Harry has arrived in the United Kingdom alone, without his wife Meghan Markle and their children Archie and Lilibet, just hours after Buckingham Palace withdrew an offer for him to stay at the royal residence. The Duke of Sussex landed in London amid ongoing disputes over security arrangements and accommodation.

Security Row and Family Absence

Harry's trip was initially planned to include his family, with hopes that temporary security measures would be granted. A source close to Harry indicated his desire for the children to spend time with their grandfather, King Charles III. However, on Saturday, it was announced that Harry would travel solo, deeming it unsafe for his family to be in London without adequate protection.

The Home Office denied Harry's request for taxpayer-funded security, reportedly leaving him enraged and upset. Additionally, a review by the Risk Management Board (RMB), part of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), has yet to take place, according to the duke's team.

Accommodation Offer Withdrawn

Earlier, Harry's spokespeople stated he had accepted an offer from King Charles to stay at Buckingham Palace. However, the Palace later clarified that the accommodation was no longer available. A royal source explained that the residence requires a minimum notice period to host guests properly, and Harry's last-minute acceptance led to the withdrawal. Harry will now stay in private accommodation at an undisclosed location.

Buckingham Palace has 240 bedrooms, with 52 reserved for royals and guests. Hosting a royal family member necessitates staff and security, which contributed to the decision.

Invictus Games and Other Engagements

Harry is set to travel to Birmingham later in the week for an event marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. He will also meet with the Invictus Games Foundation at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Additionally, as a patron of WellChild, he will visit Birmingham Children's Hospital to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the organization's first WellChild Nurse.

In his role as Global Ambassador for Scotty's Little Soldiers, a charity supporting bereaved military children, Harry is scheduled to attend the Scotty's Summer Festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire.

Potential Meeting with King Charles

While Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet are not joining Harry in London, there remains a possibility they could meet King Charles at one of his country residences, such as Highgrove or Sandringham, on Saturday. However, no formal request has been made. Harry last saw his father in September 2025, and the King has not seen his grandchildren or daughter-in-law since 2022.
