Prince William has revealed that his son Prince George is "obsessed" with snakes, a confession made during a royal visit to Northern Ireland with Princess Kate. The couple visited a petting zoo at Ulster University's Magee campus, where William handled a snake and remarked: "George is obsessed with snakes, he’s going to be so upset he missed this."
Royal Encounter with Animals
During the same visit, Princess Kate was pictured cradling a black tarantula named Charlotte in her hands. It was unclear whether the spider was named after their second child, Princess Charlotte. The couple also looked at chickens in cages, with Kate noting: "We’ve had lots of animals during lockdown. During lockdown, animals are often like therapy."

Princess Charlotte, who was absent during her mother's encounter with the tarantula, has previously expressed her fondness for spiders. In a 2020 video released by Kensington Palace, Charlotte and her brothers Prince George and Prince Louis asked Sir David Attenborough questions about their favourite animals. In the video, Charlotte revealed she likes spiders and asked Sir David if he liked them too. He replied: "I love spiders, I'm so glad you like them."
