The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been back in Britain for over two weeks, marking their second attempt at living in the UK. After stepping back from royal duties and leaving in 2020, they have now returned with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
A Bumpy Return to Britain
Harry and Meghan landed in the country on a private jet, likely expecting a fresh start. However, drama has dominated their return, with rumours about their motives and a recent letter from King Charles reiterating that they are not working royals and should not use their HRH titles.
The couple reportedly received only an hour's notice of the letter's public release and were said to be "surprised" by it. They were also reportedly unhappy to be called private citizens, preferring to be known as public figures.
Invictus Games and Security Concerns
The letter also affected Harry's Invictus Games, with Uganda pulling out of the competition in support of King Charles. Additionally, the family is waiting on the results of a Home Office review into their rights to taxpayer-funded police protection, which is reportedly making them nervous about taking their children to school.
Settling Into Their New Home
Despite the hurdles, it has not been all negative. The family is believed to be unpacking at a privately-rented home outside London, preparing Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, for their new school. Harry's uncle, Earl Charles Spencer, is also likely to be a source of support, given his proximity.
