A lip-reading expert has revealed the first words Peter Phillips said to his new wife Harriet as they left their wedding ceremony in the Cotswolds last weekend. The couple married in a private ceremony at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire, with senior members of the Royal Family in attendance.
Royal guests brave the rain
Among the guests were King Charles and Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Zara and Mike Tindall with their daughters Mia and Lena, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh with their son James, Earl of Wessex. Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence, as well as Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice and their husbands Jack Brooksbank and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, also joined the celebration.
As the couple exited the church, they faced heavy rain but paused for photographs. Lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, analysed the moment and shared insights into their conversation.
Peter's protective words
Ms Hickling claimed Peter told a staff member: "Grab hold of that [the umbrella], so we can get through. You can pass it back because we're getting wet through. Come, you need to give it back, we are getting drenched." He then turned to Harriet and said: "Let's do several quick movements for them - now this side. It's getting heavy, my arm is aching."
Harriet's sweet suggestion
Harriet responded: "I think they'd like us to kiss." The couple obliged, posing for the cameras before moving on.
Bridal details
Harriet wore a dress by Emilia Wickstead, earrings by Pragnell, the Pragnell family tiara, and Jimmy Choo shoes. Her bridal bouquet, created by florist Millie Richardson, included sweet peas, myrtle, and lily of the valley. She was walked down the aisle by her brother Nicholas Sanders, in honour of their late father Rupert Sanders. Her mother Mary and sisters Rebecca and Louisa were also present. The bridesmaids wore dresses by Emilia Wickstead and earrings from Aspinal London.
