Paddy McGuinness made a surprise Coronation Street confession on Wednesday's episode of This Morning. The 52-year-old presenter, co-hosting the ITV daytime programme alongside Josie Gibson this week, revealed he once appeared in the iconic soap.
Paddy's Surprise Soap Revelation
During a chat with soap expert Sharon Marshall, Paddy reminisced about his stint on the cobbles, where he played Dougie Ryan across six episodes in 2015. Spotting Sally Metcalfe in a spoiler clip, he joked: "Yeah, that was my era of Corrie." Sharon, 54, fired back: "It was, when you were in there as a survivalist!" with Paddy gushing: "The glory days!"
Josie, 41, was left completely taken aback as Paddy revealed: "Oh, yeah, I was in Corrie!" prompting an astonished Josie to exclaim: "You were in Coronation Street?"
Reflecting on His Role
Paddy explained: "I was in Corrie. I did a week in Corrie. I played a survivalist called Dougie and I just did a week in the woods." A visibly stunned Josie responded: "I tell you what, Paddy, you just keep giving and giving. You played a survivalist in Coronation Street and he was in the woods." Paddy then quipped: "Let me tell you folks, we're here till 1:30pm today! Stick around, more of these gems today!"
Fans React to Throwback
In 2020, Coronation Street paid tribute to Paddy's appearance, sharing a clip on Twitter with the caption: "We're celebrating all of the famous faces to have appeared on Coronation Street over the past 60 years. You chose @PaddyMcGuinness' survival expert Dougie, as the one you want to see more of! #Corrie #ThrowbackThursday @itv @WeAreSTV @itvhub."
Fans were equally surprised, with one commenting: "I loved Paddy Mcguinness in this episode it was brilliant x." Another wrote: "Great stuff paddy is there anything you can't turn your hand to take care of yourself." One remarked: "I have NO recollection of this episode!" while another added: "I'd love him to come back one day #Corrie #CoronationStreet!" Paddy himself responded: "Loved it!" with celebratory and laughing emojis.
