Shivon Zilis, the mother of four of Elon Musk's children, has said their relationship ended suddenly, describing the split as coming "with no warning".
Ms Zilis, 40, shared a series of posts on X in which she reflected on the end of her relationship with the billionaire Tesla and SpaceX founder.
"It's hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that's just how it is sometimes," she wrote.
Warm words about their time together
Ms Zilis, an executive at Neuralink, one of Mr Musk's companies, also spoke warmly of their time together, The Telegraph reports.
"I feel happy that I got to show Elon how it feels to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness," she wrote.
"I loved being that counterbalancing place of safety, sense of calm, and love."
Social media context
The comments came in response to online discussion after users noticed Mr Musk had apparently unfollowed her on the social media platform.
Ms Zilis also posted what appeared to be a screenshot of a recent text conversation with a contact identified only as "E", widely understood to be Mr Musk.
In the exchange, the sender expressed affection for Ms Zilis and referred to a state dinner attended by US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Background of the relationship
Details of Mr Musk and Ms Zilis's relationship emerged publicly during legal proceedings involving OpenAI, where she previously served on the board.
According to evidence heard during the case, the pair first met at a corporate event in 2015. Their relationship later developed after Mr Musk offered to help Ms Zilis have children through IVF when she was considering becoming a parent as a single woman.
The couple went on to have four children together over the following years.
Mr Musk's family life has attracted significant public attention alongside his growing influence in business and politics. Reports have previously suggested the tech entrepreneur has fathered children with multiple partners.
Neither Mr Musk nor his representatives have publicly commented on Ms Zilis's remarks or confirmed details of the reported split.
