Parents who draw inspiration from Disney characters for baby names may need to reconsider some choices, as a new analysis reveals several monikers are at risk of 'going extinct' by 2026. According to AttractionTickets.com, a European theme park specialist, names like Jasmine, Anna, Christopher, and Max are declining in popularity, while others such as Aurora, Violet, and Riley are on the rise.
The travel company analysed BabyCenter's US baby name data from 2023 to 2025 to identify trends. Aurora, from Sleeping Beauty, has climbed from 14th place in 2023 to 9th in 2025, and is projected to hold or increase its position. Violet, inspired by The Incredibles, has moved from 24th to 15th and is predicted to continue rising, partly due to the trend for floral names.
Riley, the main character from Inside Out, has surged to 37th place in 2025, boosted by the release of Inside Out 2. Daisy, from the Mickey Mouse universe, has risen from 99th to 70th, while Hudson (from Cars) has climbed to 14th. Classic names like David and Arthur also show steady or renewed popularity, with Arthur re-entering the top 100 at 95th place.
However, not all Disney names are thriving. Jasmine, from Aladdin, has dropped from 82nd in 2023 to off the list entirely for 2024 and 2025. Anna, from Frozen, fell out of the top 100 in 2023 and 2025 after ranking 94th in 2024. Christopher, associated with Winnie the Pooh, has declined, and Max, from The Little Mermaid, is also at risk.
AttractionTickets.com notes that while some names are fading, others are gaining traction, reflecting changing tastes among parents. The analysis suggests that names with floral, vintage, or modern appeal are currently favoured, while those tied to older Disney properties may be losing their charm.
