Princess Charlotte's second cousin, Mia Tindall, is said to bring out the princess's "cheeky" side, with the pair becoming "double trouble" when together, according to royal expert Ingrid Seward.
Charlotte's Responsible Role
During royal engagements, Charlotte is often seen keeping her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, in line. At the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee balcony appearance, she famously nudged George to remind him to fix his posture and put his hands by his side as the national anthem began. At Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, she was spotted whispering "you need to bow" to George as the coffin passed. During the Platinum Jubilee carriage procession, she pushed Louis's arm down when he waved enthusiastically, though he promptly popped it back up.
A Different Side with Mia Tindall
Mia Tindall, the eldest daughter of Zara and Mike Tindall, is Princess Anne's third grandchild and the fourth great-grandchild of the late Queen. Seward, Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine, told The Sun's Fabulous: "Princess Charlotte and Mia Tindall have become best friends, when the cheeky pair are together that is."
Seward added: "Charlotte is known for being super responsible for both of her brothers, telling them what to do and when to do it at royal occasions. Mia is much more adventurous. But as total opposites they become as one as children do when they are together."
Mirroring Their Parents' Friendship
The close relationship mirrors the friendship their parents shared growing up. Seward said: "Prince William and Zara (nee Phillips) were also partners in crime when they were young. Nannies would dread the two of them being together as they were super naughty, noisy and loved getting into trouble."
She continued: "Zara and William are still good friends today. Hopefully Charlotte and Mia will continue their friendship for as long. It makes royal get togethers much more fun and at their age they can still get away with being cheeky and naughty. In fact when they get together they can be double trouble but everyone loves them."
