Mia Goth has filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf, with court documents stating the couple have been separated since July last year. The actress, 32, listed July 28, 2025, as the date of their separation in divorce papers filed in Los Angeles on October 6, according to documents obtained by The U.S. Sun.
Details of the filing
Mia cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split after almost a decade of marriage. She has asked the court for primary legal and physical custody of the couple’s four-year-old daughter, Isabel.
The filing appears not to include a request for spousal support from Mia, while she has also asked the court to prevent Shia from being awarded alimony. Mia has asked for additional time to provide information relating to the couple’s assets and debts. Shia, 40, has not publicly responded to the divorce filing.
Arrest and legal proceedings
The news comes months after the Transformers star was arrested following a reported altercation outside a bar in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Shia was arrested on February 17 after a confrontation outside R Bar on Bourbon Street.
Footage of the incident appeared to show the actor involved in a physical confrontation with three people. Authorities subsequently charged him with two counts of battery, according to the original report. He was processed into the Orleans Parish jail and held at the Louisiana Orleans Justice Center. New Orleans Criminal District Court Judge Simone Levine set his bond at $100,000, which he paid.
Conditions of his release included entering rehabilitation and undergoing routine drug and alcohol screening. Shia was later charged with a third count of battery. During proceedings, Judge Levine raised concerns about the alleged conduct and referred to the potential threat to a “marginalized community”.
Shia was ultimately sentenced to two years’ probation, along with alcohol rehabilitation, sensitivity training and anger management classes.
Public comments and relationship history
Days after his arrest, Shia discussed the incident during a YouTube interview with Channel 5's Andrew Callaghan. Addressing his behaviour, he said: “I don’t think I have a drinking problem. I think I have a small man complex. Some kind of Napoleonic…something that has to do with anger and ego more so than my drinking.”
He also discussed his feelings during the confrontation, saying: “Gay people are scary to me. When I’m standing by myself and three gay dudes are stood next to me touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry. If that’s homophobic, then I’m that.”
Mia and Shia began dating in 2012 and married in 2016 and the pair welcomed Isabel in 2022. Following their reported separation last year, Shia remained in New Orleans, where he bought a home. He has since been linked to a new girlfriend, Nicole Mumphrey.
