First Lady Melania Trump opted for a business-chic look at the 148th White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, April 6, marking a departure from her previous attire for the event. She wore a white shirt under a navy blazer, both from Polo Ralph Lauren, paired with wide off-white Dolce & Gabbana trousers and Roger Vivier flats. In past years, she had worn dresses or coats, including a belted Mackage trench coat in 2025.
President Donald Trump and the first lady hosted the annual tradition on the South Lawn, accompanied by the Easter Bunny. The president praised his wife, calling her a 'movie star' in reference to her 2026 documentary Melania. While colouring with children, he remarked: 'You know who she is? She's a movie star who came in from Hollywood to be with you.'
The event celebrated America's upcoming 250th birthday with patriotic themes, including red, white and blue eggs. The first lady's office announced that this year's egg roll would 'take on a special patriotic spirit—bringing families together to celebrate both the joy of Easter and the enduring blessings of liberty that define the American story.'
Activities included a Be Best ring toss, a military card writing station, a bunny hop stage, a lunar exploration experience, egg colouring, a cookie decorating station, mini golf, a grand prix racing station, and a reading nook where Mrs Trump read The Runaway Bunny to children. The first lady told attendees: 'Happy Easter Monday. I hope you enjoy this beautiful day. We are celebrating a very special Easter Egg Roll this year because it's the 250th birthday of this beautiful nation.'
The president thanked his wife, saying: 'She worked very hard with her staff and the staff of the White House on really just making it nice. This is the nicest I've ever seen it.' Monday's event was the fifth Easter Egg Roll hosted by the Trumps, following previous editions in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2025. The White House tradition dates back to 1878 under President Rutherford B. Hayes.
Families with children aged 13 and under were invited to the event. Attendees included first son Eric Trump with his wife Lara Trump and their children Luke and Carolina, as well as the president's younger daughter Tiffany Trump, her husband Michael Boulos, and their son Alexander Trump Boulos, who celebrated his first Easter the day before. President Trump is set to welcome King Charles and Queen Camilla for a state visit later this month, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the United States.
