Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially moved back to the UK with their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five. The family are reportedly staying in Britain for an "extended period," with the children already enrolled in school and due to start classes in September.
The four are believed to be staying in a non-royal residence in the Cotswolds, close to the Duke of Sussex's cousin Zara Tindall, who lives at Aston Farm on Princess Anne's Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire with her husband Mike Tindall and their three children.
Mike Tindall's brutal remark
While Prince Harry was once close to the Tindalls, even serving as godfather to their second child, the relationship has soured since Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in 2020. Mike Tindall made a brutal remark to Harry back in 2022 during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II.
Harry and Meghan returned to British soil that year for the Jubilee. Despite making an appearance, Mike blasted his cousin-in-law's behaviour at the celebration. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not present at the televised concert with the rest of the Royal Family, assembled just in front of Buckingham Palace.
Jubilee concert incident
Mike was sitting just behind the Princess of Wales (the Duchess of Cambridge at the time) and Prince Louis. He said the open-air concert, featuring performances by Duran Duran, Diversity and Elton John, allowed the royals to "chat" and enjoy a drink together after the show.
He told the "The Good, The Bad, and The Rugby" podcast: "It was at the concert where there was a bit more of a chat together because we went in and had a drink with everyone after. I think the committee that put it together did an incredible job."
It was following the concert that Mr Tindall spoke to a fellow guest and reportedly referred to Prince Harry's behaviour as that of a "b*****d".
Strained relations at St Paul's
During the Jubilee celebrations, Meghan and Harry made just one official appearance with the rest of the Royal Family. They attended the service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral on June 3 but were otherwise largely hidden from the public and the media.
Television footage clearly shows them then approached by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who animatedly chatted with the Queen's granddaughter. But her husband appears to visibly avoid speaking with Prince Harry and Meghan throughout the conversation, instead staring into the distance and striking up a separate chat with David Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowdon.
Prince Harry and Meghan then move away from the Duke's cousin towards the steps of the Cathedral, without acknowledging the ex-rugby union player. Speaking to the Express following the service, body language expert Judi James suggested that "Mike's closeness to William" appeared to "have created a bit of a dilemma as Harry stepped out into Zara's group".
