The Duchess of Sussex has been criticised as 'insensitive' after sharing a video clip of her travelling with her feet up in a limousine close to the Paris tunnel where Princess Diana died in a car crash.
Meghan, 44, posted the footage on Instagram during a visit to Paris Fashion Week. The clip shows her putting her feet up inside the car as it passes bridges including the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides, near the Pont d'Alma tunnel where Diana, Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul died in August 1997.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams called the post 'utterly bewildering' and 'insensitive beyond belief'. He told the Daily Mail: 'I don't understand what on earth she was thinking - well, she can't have been thinking. No adviser would ever advise doing something so strange.' He added that Prince Harry would likely be 'absolutely horrified'.
Social media users also expressed outrage, with one X user saying: 'Regardless of specific location, filming herself driving through Paris at night is sending exactly the message she intends to send.' Another wrote: 'You cannot make this up.'
The controversy comes as Meghan made a surprise appearance at a Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week, mingling with Anna Wintour, Anne Hathaway and Baz Luhrmann. The Daily Mail has approached a spokesman for the Duchess for comment.
