Meghan Markle reportedly made hiring staff difficult in Montecito with her “rude” behaviour, it has been claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are moving back to the UK before the end of August, have lived in Montecito for the last six years.
Montecito home and family life
The couple first bought their mansion in the area months after quitting life as working royals in the UK back in 2020. Since then, they have called Montecito home, raising their two children Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, there.
Despite the fact that they are to move to the UK within weeks, it is believed they will keep hold of this Californian home.
Claims of staff hiring difficulties
While life seemed idyllic in Montecito, reports suggest that it wasn’t always easy. One source even told Page Six that Meghan had trouble finding housekeepers for the family home.
The source said: “She had trouble hiring maids because a lot of the housekeepers in Montecito didn’t want to work for them.
“Meghan would interview people herself and could come across as really snobbish and rude.
“Some of them were so offended by the way she spoke to them that word started getting around. It got to the point where people would joke that all the maids in Montecito hated them.”
Previous allegations and response
It is not known how many staff Harry and Meghan have at their Montecito abode, but as they are keeping the mansion, it is likely these staff members will still have a job.
This would not be the first time Meghan has been alleged to have treated staff poorly, with similar claims having been made before. The duchess, 45, has always denied previous claims. A representative for Meghan has been contacted for comment.
It is not known whether the family will need staff at their new UK home, which is reportedly a non-royal private home.
