Meghan Markle's Apology Could End Royal Feud, Says Royal Reporter
Meghan Markle's Apology Could End Royal Feud

Meghan Markle is making the best move she has made in the last six years, according to royal reporter Jasmine Carey, because she is set to apologise and potentially end the bitter royal feud for good.

On Tuesday, a source told the Daily Express that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to "eat humble pie." Specifically, it has been reported that Meghan is even going to "apologise" to Prince William and Princess Catherine for certain things she said in the 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview.

Timing of the Apology

While the apology may be five years too late, there is no denying the fact that it is better late than never. In fact, Carey thinks it has come at the perfect time.

With Meghan and Harry now living back in Britain, it just makes sense to apologise. Before August, they had been living in the US, thousands of miles away from the royal drama in the UK. To them, there was probably no reason to accept that they may have gone too far in some of the things they said about the royals.

Now, living just a short drive away from William and Catherine, Harry and Meghan probably see the value in an apology, and the value in what could happen if they did apologise.

Potential Benefits for the Royal Family

If the brothers are back on talking terms, it opens so many doors. Firstly, it would please King Charles, who once made a heartfelt plea to his sons not to make his final years a misery.

Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, it will allow the royal children to enjoy being cousins. If William and Harry get on, family picnics and days out could be on the cards.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis could finally get to spend time with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. For Archie and Lilibet, who have faced a massive life change moving from the US to the UK this year, a friendship with their cousins could be priceless.

Past Conflicts and Uncertain Forgiveness

Of course, who knows if William and Catherine will be able to forgive Harry and Meghan. It was not just a small bicker like most families have now and again. The couples have not been on talking terms for some time.

Instead, Harry and Meghan unleashed chaos on the monarchy, telling Oprah in 2021 that comments about Archie's skin colour, before he was born, were made by the royals. They never specified which royals, but William told reporters that the Royal Family was very much "not racist."

Then there was Meghan claiming that the famous bridesmaid-dress row had been portrayed incorrectly, and it was actually Catherine who made Meghan cry. This was not the best accusation to make about the future queen. In their Netflix docuseries in 2022, the blows to the Royal Family kept coming. Harry also painted his brother William in a less-than-flattering light in his 2023 memoir Spare, even claiming the brothers had been in a physical fight. Global headlines were made, and the relationship between the brothers was deeply affected.

While Carey thinks Meghan is making one of the best moves she can by apologising, she does not think it will guarantee forgiveness. She hopes it will, and there is no doubt many others do too, but it really is a 'time will tell' scenario.
