Meghan Markle is now thought to view the UK as a "lost cause" after a YouGov poll showed her popularity sinking to new lows. The survey, carried out between July 20 and 21, placed Meghan as the second least favourite royal, with only Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor behind her. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were both rated more favourably.
Only 22% of Britons polled have a favourable opinion of Meghan, while 65% view her unfavourably.
What Jennie Bond said
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror: "Meghan is an intelligent woman. I’m sure she is perfectly aware of her extremely low popularity in the UK. I should imagine she now views it as a lost cause and, in any case, she seems to be far happier with her sunshine life in California. I think Meghan can be credited with encouraging Harry to stop sulking about the past and concentrate on the future. But I’m not sure she has any further role to play in mending the rift between Harry and his family."
Meghan's UK trip
Meghan returned to the UK last month, joining Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The family spent just under a week together.
The 44-year-old had initially been expected to join Harry at the start of his visit, but after his request for police protection was denied, Meghan and the children stayed out of Britain. A few days later, however, she travelled to the UK with Archie and Lilibet.
Prior to the visit, Meghan had not been in the UK since 2022. Archie and Lilibet had also not visited the UK since the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee in early June 2022.
