Meghan Markle tipped to return to UK next year despite low popularity
Meghan Markle tipped to return to UK next year despite backlash

Meghan Markle will visit the UK next year despite the public's perception of her, a royal expert has claimed. The Duchess of Sussex's popularity remains low; however, her return to Prince Harry's home country next year has been at the centre of discussions among royal watchers.

Harry's UK visit for Invictus Games

Harry will come back to Britain to attend the Invictus Games in Birmingham in July, just weeks before the 30th anniversary of the death of his mother, Princess Diana. Meghan was due to attend some events during Harry's recent trip to the UK in July; however, her schedule had to be tweaked due to security concerns.

Now, a royal expert has claimed that despite the backlash the duchess has received, she will end up visiting the UK next year.

Expert says Meghan is 'tough enough'

Royal commentator Jennie Bond told the Mirror: “She was clearly prepared to join Harry at some events this year – before the latest security row blew up – so there’s every prospect of her joining him at the Games next year.

“In fact, it would be rather odd if she didn’t, as it has become something they always do together.

“I hope she can do so without people laying into her. She’s Harry‘s wife, he loves her and will want her there and she’s very popular amongst the Invictus community.”

Ms Bond said that the duchess is aware of her low public perception in Britain but added that it would not stop her from visiting the country again.

Meghan aware of scrutiny

She claimed: “Meghan is a social media enthusiast: it seems to be a big part of her life and a vital part of her business ventures.

“She’s not daft and she knows what comes with social media: and that’s a lot of scrutiny and a lot of trolling.

“So we have to assume that she is tough enough to take that kind of criticism and that it is a price she would be willing to pay if she chooses to come to the UK.”
