Meghan Markle slammed on TV over royal protocol breach

The Duchess of Sussex has been criticised in a humiliating on-air segment after reportedly boasting about her recent visit to the UK.

Martha Stewart's Damning Verdict

TV host Danica De Georgia addressed Martha Stewart's damning verdict after the US chef revealed Meghan Markle boasted about her trip to the UK and reunion with King Charles at a California dinner party. The US lifestyle star, 85, claimed the Duchess of Sussex, who recently marked her 45th birthday, was at an event with Meghan shortly after her return from Britain.

Martha told People Magazine: "I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just got back from the palace. I didn't talk to her really more than to say a couple of words, but I know she was talking about it."

Royal Protocol Breach Alleged

The News24 host was joined on her show by award-winning journalist Paula Froelich, who suggested the duchess broke royal protocol. The Sussex visit to the UK included a reunion between Meghan, Prince Harry and their children for a private meeting with King Charles at Highgrove House. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King and Queen hosted the family at Highgrove House earlier in the afternoon. The Palace described the meeting at the King's private home in Gloucestershire as a "private family occasion".

Danica said: "Even Martha Stewart has had a go overnight at Meghan's attempt at trying to be a homemaking guru. The cookbook author was asked by People magazine about With Love, Meghan, and she said, 'well, if your an actress, it's hard to transition into a princess, from a princess into a homemaking guru on a TV show.'"

Shade and Gossip

The presenter also addressed Martha's comments about seeing Meghan at a dinner party, describing the author's verdict as "harsh". Paula commented: "The thing with that article there were many levels of shade crumbs dropped in that. [Martha] said she was talking about her visit to the UK to other people. Shade one, was I didn't really hang out with [Meghan]. I didn't really talk to her."

She suggested Meghan broke protocol by reportedly addressing her visit to see the king. Paula continued: "Shade two, she's gossiping about her trip to the UK, something King Charles definitely does not want done. This is not the first time Martha has shaded Meghan."

Visit Details

The full details of what was discussed at the dinner party have not been disclosed. The UK trip followed months of speculation about whether Meghan and the children would join Harry as he undertook a week-long series of events to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.

Harry and Meghan, who have repeatedly stated their safety fears and desire for a private life, not only visited Charles on their trip but also Harry's uncle Earl Spencer and his new wife Cat Jarman. The Sussex family reportedly visited Princess Diana's grave during their return.
