Meghan Markle 'misses home' as she plans US return for holidays

Meghan Markle is reportedly missing her home in the US after returning to the UK at the end of August. Meghan and Prince Harry made their return to Britain after six years away.

A source told PEOPLE that Meghan is “doing well” as she adjusts to her new home. The Duchess is allegedly missing California, her friends and her mother, Doria Ragland.

Plans for the holidays

The source claims: “She’s keeping busy, as she always does, and staying in close contact with her friends in Montecito.

They add: “She does miss home — and her mom. They’re planning to come back for the holidays. Meghan’s looking forward to seeing her friends and making plans with them already.”

The source says Meghan “has a great attitude about it all.”

Focus on the children

Meghan’s main priority is reportedly her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are adjusting to the major change in their lives. The two children were forced to change schools after a security threat, just two days into starting at the term.

The source told PEOPLE: “The kids have adjusted well, and that’s the most important thing to her.”

First joint appearance

Meghan and Harry have today made their first joint appearance since returning to the UK. The pair arrived at Nottingham’s Community Recording Studio (CRS) at about 10.30am to begin their day of visits. Supporters held flowers and balloons as they waited behind a barrier for the Sussexes to arrive.

The high-profile event is not an official royal engagement, with a letter to Government stakeholders authorised by the King last month clarifying the Sussexes remain “private citizens”. The Sussexes are said to consider themselves “public figures” and were caught off-guard by the letter outlining their position.

Today marks the first time in four years that Meghan has appeared publicly at events in the UK – the last time being the late Queen’s funeral in 2022. The Sussexes stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. They are now reportedly living in the Cotswolds and they plan to stay in Britain for what has been called an “extended” period of time.
