Meghan 'in hiding' in UK as royal fans question return

Meghan Markle is back in the UK, but royal fans are asking when they will see her in public. While Prince Harry is expected to make a public appearance at the 2026 WellChild Awards in a matter of days, reports suggest the Duchess of Sussex may stay out of the spotlight for some time.

Duchess busy settling children into UK life

According to reports, Meghan is busy helping her children settle into life in Britain and has plenty to arrange. The family has just moved their entire lives from Montecito, California, back to the UK.

Royal reporter Jasmine Carey, writing in an opinion piece, noted that while settling in is the priority, many people are starting to have questions. The main one being: why have they actually returned? A close second: what is their plan?

Questions over Meghan's role in the UK

Carey pointed out that it makes as much sense for the couple to live in the UK as it did for them to live in Montecito, maybe even more. Harry has his family here, many charity links, and a sense of belonging, having spent almost all his life in Britain until 2020.

But what does Meghan have here? Her life is in America, her mum is in America, and her friends are in America. While Harry may have plenty going on, what is she planning to do?

Children the priority, but no clear plan

The family moved back to the UK last week. Carey said it is obvious Meghan has moved to be with her husband and keep their family unit together. She also probably knows it will be great for Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, to spend more time in their father's home country. The children are, rightly so, the priority.

But it is still hard to work out what is happening. At the moment, it feels like there isn't a plan or one key reason why they have returned, just rumour after rumour, most of which seem to be getting shut down from different sources. Never has the saying 'time will tell' been more accurate.
