The Duchess of Sussex reportedly feels “fortunate” that her children will be able to experience life in both America and the UK following the family’s return to Britain. Meghan arrived in the UK on Thursday with Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Arrival in the UK
The family flew into the country on a private plane from California, landing at Birmingham Airport shortly before midday on Wednesday. They were said to have travelled on a Bombardier Global Express XRS luxury long-range business jet for the overnight flight.
A spokesman for the duke and duchess declined to comment on their travel movements, citing the importance of privacy and security. “This is not something we would comment on,” the spokesman said.
Six years after moving to America
The move came six years after the Sussexes relocated to America for a new life. A source from Montecito, California, where the family had lived, said that for Meghan, part of the appeal is what Britain can offer to her two children.
The source told People magazine: “Meghan feels very fortunate that they’re able to give Archie and Lilibet the opportunity to experience both worlds.”
School and settling in
Archie and Lilibet had only been to the UK a handful of times since their parents’ move in 2020. In July, the Sussex family made a secret visit to Highgrove House where they met with the King and Queen.
Archie, seven, and five-year-old Lili have been enrolled in British schools, ready to start in September. The family is said to be settling in the UK for an “extended period” of time, amid speculation as to how long they will stay and where they will live, with the Cotswolds being suggested as the most likely destination.
