Meghan Markle's former friend has weighed in on her recent UK visit, suggesting the public may never see the Sussexes alongside the other royals again. The comments come after Prince Harry and Meghan visited Britain to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham, during which they also saw King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Rare Family Visit
During their trip, the couple, along with their two children, paid a rare visit to the King and Queen at Highgrove House, Charles's private home in Gloucestershire. It was the first time the King had seen his grandchildren face-to-face since the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. No further details about the meeting have been released.
Doubts About Public Reunion
Nick Ede, a television presenter and celebrity PR expert who was once friends with Meghan, shared his thoughts in an interview with Cafe Casino on behalf of Express.co.uk. He expressed doubt that Harry and Meghan will ever reunite publicly with Prince William and Princess Kate.
"I don’t think we will [see a public royal reunion]," Nick said. "I think that [Meghan] will remain close to the King and Queen in private moments but not publicly or with William and Kate."
Harry has previously spoken about his desire to reunite with his family, notably in a BBC interview in May last year, where he revealed his father had cut off contact.
MasterChef Appearance Confuses Fans
The Duchess of Sussex recently made her debut as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia, an episode that drew over a million viewers. Nick called the move "confusing for her fans."
"I think she came across as she always does, someone who is polished and slick, but she wasn’t relatable and she couldn’t answer simple questions about her favourite food for her family which felt a bit odd as it's a cooking show," he said. "She also said that she would have home-cooked meals made lovingly by her mother but on With Love, Meghan, she said she was a latchkey kid living off fast food, so once again confusing her fans."
Nick also addressed her decision to drop the Duchess of Sussex title, saying, "She wanted to drop it so she could be more relatable to the contestants and the audience but the whole episode was centred around a dish fit for a duchess, and she will have been briefed on this when they pitched it to her so it feels confusing that she wanted to drop it!"
The episode was filmed in April during the couple's visit to Australia, where they completed engagements in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra. More than 1.5 million viewers watched, breaking records for the biggest overnight Sunday audience since July 2023 and the biggest-ever overnight streaming audience, according to figures from broadcaster Network 10.
