The former friendship between Meghan Markle and Victoria Beckham is now said to be at an "all-time low" after previous reports of a bitter feud. Victoria and David Beckham were guests at the Sussexes' wedding in 2018, with Meghan also pictured wearing outfits designed by the singer-turned-designer.
David was also said to have been close to Harry, with David known to have a firm loyalty to the monarchy. However, the friendship now appears to have been short-lived, with Victoria and Meghan no longer friends.
Move to the Cotswolds
Meghan and Harry, who moved back to the UK earlier this week, are now living in the Cotswolds – with Victoria and David owning a home there valued at roughly £12 million.
It was previously reported that the feud started when Meghan accused Victoria of selling stories to the press about her. Sources have since claimed that the feud "boils down to jealousy", and one source even broke ranks by saying, "I believe it was envy that caused the fall-out."
Royal biographer's account
Royal biographer Tom Bower wrote in his book The House of Beckham about the breakdown of the friendship. He wrote: "In Meghan's celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame. As a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself that her status in the Royal Family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order."
He then added: "[Meghan] was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself. They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts and much more money. And she was soon to be a duchess."
Focus on the children
Following their move to the UK, Meghan reportedly wants to focus solely on ensuring that their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, now aged seven and five, settle into their new life there.
The children are also reportedly ready to start at a new school next week, with Meghan known to have previously "toured two schools" whilst the family were in the UK last month.
