Louise Redknapp has split from her boyfriend Drew Michael after two years, ending her first relationship since her high-profile marriage to Jamie Redknapp ended in 2017. The 51-year-old's split has brought renewed attention to her past regrets about the divorce.
Regret Over Rushed Divorce
Louise admitted in interviews after the divorce that she regretted rushing through the process. She wished she had communicated her struggles more rather than turning her back on her ex-husband. Worries also crept in about her career, as while Jamie was in the spotlight on TV, she was a stay-at-home mum before joining Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.
Louise and Jamie were granted a divorce by a judge in just 25 seconds in December 2017. Judge Mulkis ruled that Jamie's unreasonable behaviour meant Louise could not reasonably be expected to live with him. Jamie did not contest the divorce petition.
Wish to Have Tried Harder
Speaking in 2021, Louise said: "I should have paused for a minute and thought about other people, and had just a bit more time to work out why I felt I couldn’t do it anymore." She told You magazine: "All I know is, I wish I’d tried [to save the marriage]."
But that too led to regrets, with Louise admitting she shouldn't have blamed her marriage for her unhappiness at the time, after comparing herself to a Stepford Wife.
Nervous About the Future
She told You magazine in 2019: "I'm scared about the future - Jamie and I have got to a really positive place with each other, but I don't know what life is going to be like. I'm nervous about work and career and all those things, because I'm not young. And people are judgmental."
