ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly has sparked backlash after mocking Prince William and Kate Middleton for dancing during their royal tour of Belize. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were filmed sharing the dance floor with pupils at Holy Family RC School in the village of Hopkins.
During her show, Kelly questioned: 'How many times do royals have to dance? Every single time they go anywhere, they have to get their dancing shoes on.' The comments were made as she discussed the couple's Caribbean tour, which also includes visits to Jamaica and the Bahamas.
The dance segment was part of a cultural exchange in Hopkins, a traditional Garifuna community. Musicians played a gunjei rhythm, encouraging Kate to dance with a female group, while William joined a senior community member. Laura Cacho, who danced with William, told Hello! magazine: 'He shook his waist to the music. He had beautiful rhythm. It was a pleasure for me.'
The tour has faced some controversy, with protests expected in Jamaica over the royal family's historical ties to colonialism. The couple also visited the Chiquibul Forest Reserve to meet British armed forces on jungle training.
