Prince Josef-Emanuel and Princess Claudia of Liechtenstein have announced the surprise arrival of their second child, a son named Nikolai, born last month. The couple shared the news on Instagram, posting photos of the newborn sleeping in a yellow cardigan and wrapped in a blanket with his name stitched in.
Prince Josef-Emanuel is the son of Prince Nikolas of Liechtenstein and Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg. He attended Sandhurst's Royal Military Academy and served in the Irish Guards. The couple married in Cartagena in 2022, with several royals in attendance, including Queen Camilla's niece, Ayesha Shand.
The announcement follows another surprise royal birth earlier this year. Princess Maria Laura of Belgium and her husband William Isvy welcomed their first child, a son named Albert, in January. The Belgian Palace announced the birth, revealing the baby was named after his great-grandfather, King Albert II.
Baby Albert is 11th in line to the Belgian throne and is the first Belgian royal not to receive a title. Princess Maria Laura is the niece of King Philippe and was raised away from the royal spotlight in Switzerland.
