Laura Gallacher has been attending court with her husband Russell Brand as he faces rape and sexual assault charges. The 39-year-old has been spotted holding his hand during proceedings at the trial.
Brand, 51, is accused of three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault and one allegation of indecent assault. He denies all charges, which are alleged to have taken place between 1999 and 2009.
Who is Laura Gallacher?
Born in June 1987, Laura comes from a family with connections to sport and television. She is the daughter of Scottish golfer Bernard Gallacher, a former Ryder Cup captain, and the younger sister of television presenter Kirsty Gallacher. The sisters grew up on the Wentworth Estate in Surrey.
Laura worked in restaurant and nightclub management before moving into writing and entrepreneurship. In 2020, she published The Joy Journal for Magical Everyday Play, a book of crafts, mindfulness and creative activities for parents and children. The project developed into a wider lifestyle brand of the same name, through which she shares creative ideas and sells her own range of dungarees.
Although she previously shared parenting advice, craft projects and lifestyle content online, Laura has since deactivated her main public social media accounts.
How did Laura meet Brand?
Laura and Brand first dated in 2007 before going their separate ways. They reconnected several years later, following Brand's divorce from Katy Perry in 2012. Laura said she bumped into Brand in 2015 while walking along a canal in London's East End, trying to clear her head after a breakup.
Speaking about their second chance together, she said: "You have to rebuild your foundations and trust again, we did it the right way. It was very slow, it was getting to know each other and going out on day trips together."
In an interview with You magazine, Laura recalled: "I remember him saying: 'I think I want a quiet life and a family,' and it was exactly what I wanted. So, then it was about seeing if we could build a foundation to make that happen."
The couple became engaged in June 2016 and married in August 2017 at Remenham Church in Oxfordshire. Guests included Noel Gallagher and Jonathan Ross.
How many children do Laura and Brand have?
Laura and Brand share three children. Their eldest daughter, Mabel, was born in November 2016. Their second daughter, Peggy, arrived in July 2018. In June 2023, Brand revealed Laura was pregnant with their third child during an appearance on Steven Bartlett's The Diary of a CEO podcast. The couple welcomed a son later that year.
In 2024, the family relocated from their countryside home to Florida, where they have continued to maintain a relatively private family life.
