Lady Louise Windsor has been praised for her "steely determination" as details of her paid roles at royal residences have come to light. The 22-year-old, who graduated from university over the summer with a degree in English Literature and International Relations, is currently on a gap year.
Photographer James Whatling, who has worked alongside the royals for many years, told HELLO!: "Things like that give you extra confidence. One thing that strikes me about her is that she may be quiet and you don't see a lot of her, but I think underneath all that there's a steely determination."
He added: "You see her with the horses, and she commands them. She's fearless. It's a tricky thing to do."
Roles at Royal Windsor Horse Show and Balmoral
With her lifelong love of horses, the royal is known to have taken on the role of paid principal organiser, administrator, and concierge at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The Daily Mail recently reported that Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie's daughter has also taken on a role for King Charles as a chef at Balmoral Castle in Scotland over the summer.
It is claimed that Louise has been cooking food for people renting lodges at the Royal Scottish estate. Cooking is believed to be something she enjoys, and something that her mum also enjoys, with the Daily Mail reporting that the young royal is a "really good cook" and "incredibly low-key and discreet."
Family Roles and Personal Life
Much like his sister, James, Earl of Wessex, also held a job at a royal residence over the summer. The 19-year-old is said to have worked at Sandringham as a farmhand.
In addition to her studies, Lady Louise has been seen regularly with fellow student Felix da Silva-Clamp, who grew up in Melbourne, during her time in the coastal town of St Andrews.
A fellow student from St Andrews previously shared an insight into the royal's personality after studying alongside her. They told The Telegraph last year: "She works a student job during the week, in the canteen, and she takes part in a lot of student theatre productions – she was in the chorus for a play called Dragon Fever, she was really good."
They added: "The theatre isn't massive, so it shows quite a lot of dedication that she's part of it."
Public Appearances and Titles
Lady Louise and James have made only occasional public appearances over the years, notably attending the Commonwealth Games with their parents in 2022 and Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations that year.
The siblings were not given royal titles from birth. Sophie previously confirmed that, at the time of her daughter's birth, she could choose whether to begin using her HRH and princess status once her daughter turned 18. The same process was followed for James following his birth in 2007.
