King Charles III is set to celebrate his 77th birthday today with a touching surprise organised by his grandchildren, according to a former royal butler. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are expected to give their grandfather a special present along with handmade birthday cards.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold said: “Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will definitely have a special present for their Grandpa. I think they might make him homemade cards as well, which all grandparents love to receive.” He added that the Prince and Princess of Wales enjoy arts and crafts with their children, so the gifts are likely to be extra special.
In 2023, King Charles also received a meaningful birthday gift from his younger grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who live in California. According to The Telegraph, they recorded a video message singing “Happy Birthday” for his 75th birthday.
The King is known to send gifts to his grandchildren as well. For Prince George’s first birthday, Charles gave him a Wendy house worth £18,000, which remains at Highgrove estate.
Kate Middleton has previously spoken about crafting with her children. During a visit to the National Federation of Women’s Institutes in September, she said they spent the summer “crafting in every corner of the house.” William also recalled that George and Charlotte made handmade gifts for the late Queen’s 91st birthday.
