King Charles wants to reconcile with Prince Harry, but one royal family member is expected to avoid him when he returns to the UK, according to a royal biographer. Phil Dampier stated that the monarch would like to see his youngest son, the Duke of Sussex, along with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, when Harry visits Britain for an Invictus Games event in July. The author suggested the King 'wants a reconciliation' but would likely prefer a private meeting to avoid turning it 'into a circus.'
Queen Camilla's Likely Absence
While Dampier speculated that Charles and Harry could meet, he doubted whether Queen Camilla would want to reunite with her stepson. He told the Daily Mail: 'It wouldn't surprise me if she has some family commitment to go to and avoids them. She will feel she was badly treated in Harry's book Spare.'
Harry's Memoir and Allegations
In his memoir Spare, Harry made several allegations against the royal family, including that he and his brother Prince William begged their father not to marry Camilla. Harry also revealed he once feared she could become his 'wicked stepmother.' He claimed Charles urged his sons not to make his final years 'a misery.' Additionally, Harry wrote that William physically attacked him and pushed him into a dog bowl, and the brothers remain estranged.
Upcoming UK Visit
It has been four years since Harry was joined by his wife Meghan Markle and their children on a visit to the UK. Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, last saw their grandfather in person during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. Reports suggest Harry and Meghan will bring their children to Britain this time. Harry had previously expressed hopes of bringing his children from the US but insisted it was too dangerous amid his legal fight over UK security. However, he has reportedly been assured that adequate security provision will be in place for the trip.
Previous Reunion
Harry reunited with Charles last September for the first time in 19 months, while the King is still undergoing treatment for cancer. Besides allegations against Camilla and William, Harry previously claimed Charles was jealous of Meghan and Princess Kate. He also claimed Charles did not hug him when he told him his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, had died, and said he believed the King was 'never made' for single parenthood but 'to be fair' had 'tried.'
