King Charles is expected to finally reunite with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, next month for the first time in four years. The monarch has had limited contact with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children, who have been living in the United States since the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
Reunion Likely During Invictus Games Event
Harry and Meghan are scheduled to bring Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, to Britain in July. Harry will attend a one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. The family of four, last in the UK together in 2022, is expected to use the trip to visit royal relatives, including King Charles.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked with Charles from 2004 to 2011, told AceOdds: "I think the only thing that will stop it happening is if there is a diary clash. The King goes up to Scotland for the summer, but I'm sure he will do everything he can to make it work. This will be extremely important to the King and he will make it a priority."
King's Family-Focused Nature
While the King has never publicly commented on his relationship with Harry or his American grandchildren, it is believed he has been saddened by the limited contact. Charles is known as a family man, enjoying close bonds with his other grandchildren—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—in the UK.
Details of Harry's upcoming visit remain scarce, but reports indicate the family has been invited to stay at a royal residence, an offer reportedly accepted by the couple. The reunion would mark the first time Charles has seen Archie and Lilibet since June 2022, during Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
