King Charles 'no objection' to Diana service to reunite sons

King Charles III has reportedly raised no objection to a religious event dedicated to his late wife, Princess Diana, which could bring his estranged sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, back together. The monarch, 77, is said to want to "heal the rift" between the brothers with a Thanksgiving service for his ex-wife.

Service planned for 30th anniversary

The event is expected to take place next August, on the 30th anniversary of the Princess of Wales' death. A similar service was held in 2007 on the 10th anniversary at the Wellington Barracks Guards' Chapel, where Diana's favourite music was played and Harry delivered the eulogy.

An insider told the Daily Mail: "This would be an inspirational way to remember Diana. William could celebrate his mother's life by giving a reading." The source added that this possibility, which is reportedly being seriously considered, could potentially "bring the brothers together."

Brothers remain estranged

The source of hope comes following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's widely reported return to the UK in late August. However, while King Charles reportedly welcomed his son's return with a warm reaction, there are still many insiders who believe the brotherly conciliation is not realistic.

Royal journalist Tom Sykes insisted to Page Six on Thursday that a reunion between William and Harry is "just not gonna happen."

A source told Closer that William is reportedly finding it hard to watch his father take a soft stance when it comes to Harry and Meghan. "It's very hard for William to watch his father being so soft on them," the source said. "He truly cannot understand why Charles is giving them so much latitude after everything that's happened."

Diana documentary plans cause friction

Prince William is reportedly also furious with Prince Harry over his plans to make a Diana documentary. The Prince of Wales was apparently approached about similar projects, but turned them down.

Contrastingly, Prince Harry previously expressed his wish to reconcile with his family members. In a May 2025 BBC interview, five years after he and Markle, 45, ditched the UK, Harry said he sees "no point continuing to fight any more", due to the "precious" nature of life.
