King Charles could be set to ensure a potential reunion with his two youngest grandchildren is held private next month. It has been confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return to the UK next month, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, joining them. The King has previously seen Archie on several occasions before Harry and Meghan's move to the US. However, the 77-year-old has only met his granddaughter once during the family's visit to the UK in 2022, a visit that coincided with Lilibet's first birthday.
Details of the Upcoming Visit
Archie and Lilibet, now aged seven and five, last visited the UK during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. Although the Sussexes were in the UK at the time, they did not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the late monarch's final Trooping the Colour. The family's visit next month has been scheduled for Harry to attend the one-year countdown for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Palace Officials Want Privacy
As reported by GB News, while no meeting between the King and his grandchildren has been confirmed for next month, Buckingham Palace officials are said to want to keep any potential meeting behind closed doors. Reports suggest this is due to concerns over any potential photo opportunities. Back in 2022, the Sussexes were reportedly keen for the late Queen to appear in a photograph with Archie and Lilibet. This request was reportedly denied by the late Queen due to risks that the photos would be made public.
Harry's Memoir Reveals Queen's Thoughts
Writing in his bombshell memoir Spare, Harry shared that his beloved grandmother referred to Archie and Lilibet as the "sweetest children." He also said that she was "bemused" and expected them to be "more American." The late Queen's first and final meeting with her namesake great-granddaughter occurred during that 2022 visit.
