Mike Tindall has admitted he was 'frustrated' by his seat allocation at the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The former rugby star, 44, attended the historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey with his wife Zara, 42, earlier this month.
On his podcast 'The Good, The Bad and the Rugby', Tindall discussed the seating arrangements with co-host James Haskell. Zara and Mike were placed in the fourth row next to Peter Phillips and behind Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie, Jack Brooksbank, Princess Beatrice, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Prince Andrew. The front row was reserved for the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
Despite being seated in a prime location, Tindall said they could not see the key moments of the two-hour service, which took place around the corner near the altar. 'You're in the hottest spot, but it's happening all around the corner where you can't see!' he said. 'It was unbelievable being sat there, but frustrating.' Flat-screen TVs were placed around the Abbey to help guests view the crowning.
Tindall also spoke about the Coronation Concert in Windsor, saying he was unsure how to behave. 'You can't not hear Lionel Richie sing All Night Long and get up and dance,' he said. 'But is the King going to stand up?'
The night before the Coronation, Zara and Mike joined Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew for a family meal at Oswald's in Mayfair, before continuing to the Arts Club until around 2am. They were seen 'stumbling in the street' looking for a taxi home, according to a witness.
