King and Queen 'at wits' end' after Andrew bombshells

King Charles and Queen Camilla are reportedly at “their wits’ end” as the royal family has been battered by a series of bombshells in recent months, according to a source quoted by Woman’s Day magazine.

The King and Queen have had to contend with the scandal surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson and their links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to the UK six years after leaving the country.

Charles Spencer’s claims add to pressure

Charles Spencer has also released a new book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, containing explosive claims against the King. In it, Spencer claims the monarch, then the Prince of Wales, said about Diana, “we’ll forget her soon enough” during an argument over whether Princes William and Harry should walk behind their mother’s coffin in her funeral procession. The memoir also alleges the King “sounded giddily elated — like a lottery winner” when he spoke to the earl after Diana’s death.

In a strongly worded response, Buckingham Palace said the King was “mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgement and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss”.

Andrew takes police to court

Now, the King and Queen face yet another bombshell — the former Duke of York is taking the police force that arrested him earlier this year to court. A private High Court hearing is to take place on Thursday, a judicial spokesperson has said. The former Duke of York was arrested on his 66th birthday earlier this year on suspicion of misconduct in public office following allegations he shared sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy.

The Telegraph reported that Andrew has been granted permission to challenge the legality of Thames Valley Police's actions in relation to the searches conducted during his February arrest. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing.

Queen hopes for calm

According to a new report, the latest bombshells rocking the royal family have affected the King and Queen. A source told Woman’s Day magazine: “It’s no wonder they [the King and Queen] are at their wits’ end. Camilla was hoping the next few years would be calm, but instead the Royal Family is now constantly putting out fires.”

The source added: “But the queen is nothing if not resilient and hopes a bit of space will put her and Charles back on track. After all, they’ve been through harder times than this over the years!”
