The Fletchers, stars of ITV's "Fletchers' Family Farm," have revealed the deeply personal reasons behind the names of their twin boys, Maximus and Mateusz, born in May 2022. The couple, who live on a farm in Cheshire with their four children, chose the names as tributes to family and a late friend.
The former Emmerdale actor and his wife Liz are parents to daughter Marnie, nine; son Milo, six; and the twins. The family's life on their farm in the Peak District is documented in the Sunday morning ITV programme, which first aired in October 2023 and attracts millions of viewers. The farm is private and not open to the public daily, though the couple have hosted open days and seasonal events.
Meaning Behind the Names
The couple continued the "M" theme they had established with their older children. Liz explained their decision: "Kelvin wanted to stick with an M theme but I was picking all sorts of different names. If we'd preferred a different name we would've gone with it."
Mateusz Kelvin is named after his father, while Maximus Crowther honours Kelvin's late best friend, Steven Crowther. Kelvin told Hello Magazine: "Maximus's middle name Crowther is the surname and nickname of my best friend, Steven Crowther, who sadly passed away of a heart attack a few years ago. He was only 39."
He added: "Me and him were inseparable, like twins. In my mind, it's Kelvin and Crowther: part two. A mini version. I hope Maximus will be like him. He was hilarious, sensitive, just a lovely person."
Twin Boys Share a Close Bond
Kelvin recently shared a series of eight photos of the boys on social media, showing them surrounded by fields, blue skies, and farm animals. The caption read: "So so different but they share the exact same love." The post received over 20,000 likes.
In the photos, the twins posed with their arms around each other, smiling and giving thumbs up. They were dressed in muddy clothes, with one wearing wellies and the other with Crocs on the wrong feet. Fans responded warmly, with comments including "Oh my goodness the twins have grown so much! Totally adorable" and "So adorable."
Rebuilding Their Home
In a recent episode, the couple discussed rebuilding their fire-damaged home, which they were forced to leave after a fire broke out while they were on holiday last year. Liz said: "The next big project is actually our house, which I didn't ever think was going to be on the list. But yeah, it'll be nice to put this energy and effort into the house now and build a home for the kids."
She noted the twins have no memory of living in the house: "The twins don't remember living in it. That's how long it's been. They call it the burnt house, which is sad, really, but listen, one day we'll be able to move back in, and it'll just be their home." Liz expressed eagerness to begin the work: "I imagine it'll take us forever to finish it, but I guess that'll be part of our story now, won't it? I can't wait to lay some bricks, start mixing some cement, doing some hard graft. I'm excited for it." "Fletchers' Family Farm" returns Sunday at 11.30am on ITV1 and ITVX.
