Traditional portraits marking the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla have been released, rounding off the monarchy's landmark occasion. In a special written message, the King thanked all those who helped make the event special, paying tribute to the countless people who ensured the celebrations were safe and enjoyable.
Among the new images, the Princess of Wales was seen wearing Queen Elizabeth II’s George VI Festoon Necklace, commissioned by George VI for his daughter in 1950. Kate had been expected to wear the necklace during the ceremony, but it was absent, possibly to avoid overwhelming her Royal Victorian Order mantle and Alexander McQueen dress.
The Duchess of Edinburgh was spotted extending a caring hand to Princess Alexandra, holding her arm on some steps while the Duke of Edinburgh offered a steadying hand. Princess Alexandra, 86, has been a working member of the Royal Family for decades.
Queen Camilla’s gown featured gold-thread tributes to her two Jack Russells, along with floral embroidery honouring the King, reflecting their shared love of the outdoors. The dress was specially crafted by couture designer Bruce.
Kate wore an ivory Alexander McQueen gown with silver embroidery depicting rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs for the four home nations, and made subtle nods to Princess Diana in her jewellery choice.
