The Princess of Wales is set to host her cherished annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, an event now in its fifth year that brings together 1,600 guests to celebrate love and community spirit.
A Star-Studded Celebration of Community
Kate will preside over the Together at Christmas service, which is designed to recognise the extraordinary efforts of volunteers and community stalwarts from across the United Kingdom. The event will feature readings from Hollywood royalty, including Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor, as well as from the Prince of Wales himself.
Musical performances will be provided by an impressive roster of artists, such as Katie Melua, Fisherman’s Friends, and Griff. They will be joined by actress Hannah Waddingham and Dan Smith from the pop rock band Bastille. Celebrity chef Dame Mary Berry, who has crafted a special Christmas wreath on display in the Abbey, will also be in attendance alongside leading figures from the world of sport.
Honouring Everyday Heroes
The service has a profound focus on acknowledging individuals who have gone above and beyond for others. In a personal letter to guests, the Princess praised these community stalwarts, stating they are making an “extraordinary difference to the lives of others”.
Among those specially invited is schoolgirl Madison Reed, who last year raised over £1,360 for the Archie Foundation by Highland dancing in 26 locations across Scotland. The charity supports sick children and their families in north-east Scotland.
The guest list also includes members of the England women’s rugby World Cup winning squad – Rosie Galligan, Helena Rowland, Jess Breach and Marlie Packer – and players from the Wales women’s rugby team. Holocaust survivor Steven Frank, whom Kate photographed in 2020, and Second World War veterans Jack Mortimer and John Eskdale are also expected to attend.
Royal Family Appearance Anticipated
Royal fans will be eagerly watching to see if Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis make an appearance alongside their parents, as they did at last year’s heartwarming service. Other members of the royal family are also expected to join the congregation for this festive celebration.
The Princess reflected in her letter that the Christmas period reminds us “how deeply our lives are woven together” and serves as an invitation to remember the power of reaching out, especially when life feels fragmented. The event, filled with festive music and heartfelt tributes, promises to be a poignant highlight of the royal Christmas calendar.
