The Princess of Wales, 42, arrived solo before being joined by Prince William and their three children, with expert Judi James noting a new confidence and leadership in her demeanour.
James observed that Kate's lack of a handbag suggested confidence, as she has previously used bags as barriers when feeling vulnerable. Instead, she touched her fingers together or gesticulated while speaking, reinforcing her role as leader of the event. Her radiant smile on arrival was described as a 'classic Kate' Duchenne smile, connecting warmly with fans.
During the service, Kate displayed a new dimension of emotional expressiveness, particularly when greeting other cancer survivors. James noted animated facial expressions ranging from laughter to empathetic concern, with steepled brows and sad eyes. At one point, Kate appeared to mirror King Charles III, arching her back and performing a playful chuckle characteristic of the monarch.
However, the strongest mirroring was observed between Prince William and Prince George, 11, who adopted identical poses throughout the service. James noted that this mirroring typically declines with age, but here it seemed to strengthen, with father and son sitting or standing in identical poses for much of the time.
