Kate Ferdinand was all smiles as she cosied up to husband Rio, after they jetted off on a sun-drenched family holiday. The former TOWIE star, 35, recently opened up about her marriage to the ex Manchester United footballer, 47, hitting back at accusations she’s a ‘gold digger’.
Holiday snaps and sweet caption
After addressing the scrutiny, the lovebirds headed out on a much-needed getaway, along with their loved ones. Taking to Instagram, she gave fans a glimpse into their trip with a string of gorgeous photos, including one snap showing her posing in a green bikini and matching hat during a relaxing beach day.
In another picture, she grinned widely while rocking a butter yellow two-piece and polkadot coverup, leaning into her partner - who also dressed for the weather in a grey vest and sunglasses. Alongside the sweet upload, she simply wrote: "Cup full."
Family and relationship background
The couple share Shae and Cree together while Rio is also dad to Tate, Lorenz and Tia, who he welcomed with late wife Rebecca. Kate has previously opened up about becoming a step-mother to the three teenagers, and the challenges they have faced while blending their families.
The pair first met at a beach bar in Dubai at the end of 2016, while on separate holidays to celebrate New Years Eve, and their attraction was evident. They made their romance official months later, and walked down the aisle in 2019.
Addressing the 'gold digger' claims
On the latest episode of her Blended podcast, she confessed that her romance with the athlete was initially met with criticism from many. In fact, she shared that she was accused of being with the dad-of-five for his money, and insisting nothing could be further from the truth.
"People think I'm a gold digger, I'm with him for money. I'm basically his nanny that he doesn't pay," she declared. "I always say if I wanted to pick a rich man I could have picked a lot easier one without all the kids. If it was just a money thing, it's true though. I'm here because I love you, there are great things and there are hard things."
Rio interjected: "There have been big issues that have happened, especially on where I have thought your life could be so much more simple without me, and without us. As much pain and hard yards we have brought to her life, I think it balances out the goodness we have brought to her life as well. But I do appreciate the stress we have brought to her life as well."
