Jerry Hall has not seen media mogul Rupert Murdoch since their divorce four years ago, months after he informed her over email that their marriage was over. The Celebrity Traitors star, now 70, was waiting to meet her husband at their Oxfordshire mansion when she received the unexpected correspondence on her mobile phone.
Blunt Email Ends Six-Year Marriage
Rupert Murdoch, 95, called an end to things after six years together. “Jerry, sadly I’ve decided to call an end to our marriage,” Rupert’s blunt e-mail to her allegedly began. “We have certainly had some good times, but I have much to do.” He later followed up by saying: “My New York lawyer will be contacting yours immediately.”
Heartbroken Jerry was left “devastated, mad and humiliated” after caring for the mega-rich tycoon through a series of health scares, and also isolating with him throughout the pandemic.
Settlement and Aftermath
Jerry walked away with £72million and two mansions in the quick settlement, it was claimed. One of the homes she is understood to have been awarded is £11.25million Holmwood House near Henley-on-Thames, Oxon. Jerry – the former partner of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger – is also believed to have the keys to a house in France bought around five years ago.
“After being blindsided by Rupert’s decision to divorce, Jerry was left devastated,” a source claimed. “She never saw it coming. Her friends quickly rallied around but the more pragmatic among them made her believe she needed to be aggressive in terms of a settlement. The last place Rupert’s advisers wanted this played out was in a public court.”
Traitors and Family Warnings
Jerry admits she's “completely obsessed” with Traitors and says her kids gave her a warning before she headed off to the Highlands for filming – and has set out strict instructions for Mick. She explained to The i Paper: “I told Mick that I'd let my four children know that if any of them had a problem, they were to call him because I was busy.” Jerry also told The Mail that they warned her: “Mom, don't do anything dangerous! Be careful. You think you're younger than you are. You and Dad are always doing things that you did in your twenties that maybe you shouldn't be doing now.”
She added: “I'm very competitive, as is Mick and our children. Everyone wants to win. I tend to be the leader when it comes to games. But I'm going to try to behave.” The former model and Rupert first revealed they were an item in 2015 and the Sky owner marked their marriage by quitting Twitter and calling himself “the luckiest and happiest man in the world”. Speaking to British Vogue, Jerry said things aren't good between them now. She said: “Not all exes you want to be friends with, do you? Some people aren't friendly. But I think when you have children with someone, it's important to be friendly”.
