Will Smith has revealed that his wife Jada Pinkett Smith gave him a piece of advice before he starred opposite Australian actress Margot Robbie in the 2015 film Focus. Will played seasoned fraudster Nicky Spurgeon in the movie, mentoring his protégé Jess Barrett, played by Margot, in the art of deception.
Jada's warning before filming
During promotional duties for Focus, Will shared that Jada offered him guidance before he began working with Margot, who is 22 years younger than him. He remembered at the time: "When Margot got hired for the gig, Jada saw that Margot was young and hot and in shape. She said: 'Boy don't embarrass me. Get in shape now'. She was like: 'Do not let that girl smash you onscreen.'"
Margot also told E! News about Will: "He's got this really lovely breath spray, it tastes like Christmas. It's like he's just eaten a candy cane."
Co-stars reunite in Suicide Squad
The Wolf of Wall Street star insisted that she would never romantically pursue fellow actors because "they are trouble". Margot and Will reunited for David Ayer's Suicide Squad just twelve months later.
Will and Jada are parents to two children, son Jaden and daughter Willow, and Will also has a son Trey from his previous marriage to Sheree Zamino.
Life partners and entanglement revelation
It hasn't always been smooth sailing, and Jada previously confessed that she "never wanted" to tie the knot. Will once said: "We refer to ourselves as life partners, where you get into that space where you realise you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life."
One of the most shocking revelations about their relationship surfaced in 2021 when Jada confessed she had been in an "entanglement" with August Alsina. The actress met August at the Wireless Festival in London in 2015, and five years later the singer told The Breakfast Club's Angela Yee he "gave years of his life" to a romantic relationship with Jada with Will's blessing.
Jada's representatives initially dismissed these claims as "absolutely not true," but she later took part in a Red Table Talk to clarify that she had a relationship with August during a separation from Will, so he never gave his blessing.
