Harry's friend reveals sad reason for UK return

Prince Harry's friend Archie Manners has revealed the sad reason behind the Duke of Sussex's sudden return to the UK, appearing on GB News just hours after the news broke. He said the primary motivator for the move, which includes wife Meghan Markle and their children Archie and Lilibet, is the King's health.

King's health concerns

GB News presenter Patrick Christys asked Archie: "Is this a bit of an indication that the King is not doing well?" Harry's friend replied: "Well, the King is not a young man and he has cancer. So, without being too grim about it, he's not going to live forever.

"None of us are, but I suspect that I may live a lot longer than he will."

Face-to-face reconciliation

Archie went on: "I suspect, like a lot of these rifts, when it's done over the phone or, in this case through the national newspapers, it's one kind of response. But when you see someone face to face, things are seen differently and I suspect that is what has happened here. I am in no doubt that the primary motivator is the King's health."

He continued: "And it's the human reaction of a son with a father who have now met after many years and there's probably some regret on both sides of that."

Move back to Britain

Archie said that Harry will have had the realisation that one day he will get the call that King Charles is no longer with us and "wouldn't want any bad blood beforehand".

The news comes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to leave their California life behind and return to Britain later this month, more than six years after they relocated to the US. The couple will make their home in a non-royal residence outside of London and have already enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in British schools. There will be no change to Harry and Meghan's role and status as private individuals and non-working members of the Royal Family.
