Prince Harry has reportedly contacted Princess Kate directly in an effort to repair fractured family relationships, bypassing his brother Prince William.
According to a source, Harry is keen to rebuild his friendship with his sister-in-law, with whom he was once close. However, William remains a significant obstacle, as the future King reportedly refuses to speak with his younger brother.
Harry's approach to Kate
A source told Closer that, with William unwilling to engage, Harry has gone straight to Kate to address their own rift. "She’s the gatekeeper to so many things," the source said. "If, God forbid, something is wrong with Charles, or they need to communicate about something without bothering the King directly, she’s the most straightforward path."
The source added: "He hates to put her in the middle, but he says he doesn’t feel like he has any other choice because William is continuing to be so stubborn, and he says he knows Kate will be a lot more reasonable."
Harry's determination
"He still has a lot of respect for her, and he misses her and says he’s looking forward to getting some sort of relationship with her back on track," the source said. "People are warning him that this will not go over well with William, but Harry doesn’t seem to care. He says he’s done tiptoeing around his brother and he’s going to do what needs to be done."
"He’s looking forward to striking up a dialogue with Kate and finding a path forward, particularly if they’re going to bring the children together, which of course is inevitable," the source added.
William's stance and Kate's position
Earlier reports indicated that Prince William refuses to interact with Harry and has threatened to boycott events at places like Sandringham if Harry and Meghan attend. The insider said the situation between the brothers will be "tough for Kate," as the Princess "has to be very conscious of not upsetting William."
"But when Harry calls, it’s hard to imagine that she’s going to ghost him or refuse to pick up," they added. "Fact is, she does miss him."
"She’s certainly not going to conspire with Harry against William, but it’s very likely she will want to hear what he has to say. Of course, she’ll be totally upfront with William about any conversations they do have; she would never sneak around behind his back, but she's also someone with a very strong mind of her own, and she hasn’t given up hope that things between the brothers can eventually be repaired."
