Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to return to the UK before the end of the month, but reports suggest the Duke is no longer in contact with his cousin, Princess Eugenie. A source told HELLO! on Thursday that Harry has “very few friends left from before” and that his bond with his cousins has weakened.
Former 'Best Friends' Drifted Apart
The Mirror reported that the cousins were once “best friends.” However, the insider revealed: “Harry and Meghan are not so close to Beatrice and Eugenie anymore, and Harry did not see Eugenie over the summer in Portugal.”
They added: “Harry has very few friends left from before. They’re going to have to make some serious social inroads and gatherings to get back in the fold.” The source also said: “Beatrice and Eugenie are not even in touch - and Eugenie was once so close to him.”
Family Ties Strained Since 2020
Harry’s cousins, the daughters of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, were once among his closest relatives. His relationships with other family members, including his brother Prince William and father King Charles, have been turbulent, particularly since he stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
Harry has been living in California with Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, for the past six years. The couple have reportedly secured a property in the UK and enrolled their children at British schools starting in September.
Recent UK Visit and Future Plans
The pair visited the UK in July for a five-day trip marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games. They brought their children and visited King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House, marking the first time the king had seen his grandchildren since 2022.
