Prince Harry made a surprise public appearance this week near his Montecito home, attending an event organised by One805, a non-profit supporting the mental health of first responders in Santa Barbara County. The Duke of Sussex participated without his wife, Meghan Markle.
During an hour-long discussion, Harry spoke with peer support team members from law enforcement agencies about trauma, pressure, and mental wellness. One805 described the conversation as “lively and heartfelt,” noting that the duke’s insights were “enthusiastically received.”
The organisation brings together first responders from fire, police, and emergency medical services to raise funds for mental wellness support, equipment, and resources. The event included representatives from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and police departments in Santa Maria, Lompoc, Guadalupe, and Santa Barbara.
Harry, a veteran, has long advocated for mental health awareness. One805 praised his openness and empathy, stating that peer support teams are “the first responders to our first responders.”
