A new Daily Express poll has revealed that Prince Harry is considered by some Brits to represent the Royal Family better than two working royals, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie. The Duke of Sussex, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020, received 42 votes out of 2,446 participants, while Prince Edward got only 10 and the Duchess of Edinburgh 29.
Poll results surprise royal watchers
The outcome may be unexpected, as Edward and Sophie are generally popular figures, and Harry has not been a working royal for six years. Nevertheless, the result is a boost for Harry, whose popularity with the British public has waned since he left royal life and the UK in 2020.
Since then, Harry has not carried out any official royal work on behalf of the monarchy, having established a new life in Montecito. However, he has returned to the UK for various charitable engagements over the past six years, with his most recent visit in July being deemed a success.
William tops the poll
The poll, which ran from 7am on August 11 to 12.30pm on August 13, also found that Prince William is the royal most people believe represents the family best, with 798 votes. Princess Anne came second, and Princess Catherine third.
William's high standing is consistent with other polls, including a recent YouGov survey conducted between July 21 and 22, which found that 76% of those polled had a favourable opinion of him.
