Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning to make 'the biggest spectacle' during their upcoming return to the UK next month. The couple, along with their children Archie and Lilibet, are expected to fly to Britain later this week for a one-week stay.
Security and Travel Arrangements
After Harry's request for taxpayer-funded security was denied last week, the family will travel with their own security detail. A source close to Harry told Page Six that the royal always travels with 'one of two of his own security team.' The source also revealed that the Sussexes will not be flying to the UK on a private jet.
Purpose of the Visit
The primary reason for the visit is for Harry to attend the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games. Founded by Harry in 2014, the 41-year-old always attends the Games, with next year's events scheduled to be held in Birmingham from July 10 to 17, 2027. Additionally, Harry is keen for his children to spend time with their paternal grandfather, King Charles.
According to the source: 'They know it will make the biggest spectacle. They will want photos of them being “royal.”'
Potential Photo with King Charles
Speculation has grown over whether the King will feature in a photograph with his two youngest grandchildren. The 77-year-old monarch, known to be a doting grandfather to Prince William's three children, has not seen Archie and Lilibet since 2022. Royal expert Kate Mansey suggested that a picture of the King with Archie and Lilibet could be the 'ultimate money shot.'
Writing in The Times, Mansey said: 'Picture the scene: the King smiles for the camera as he sits on a sofa by two beautiful children. At first glance, the little ones are not immediately recognisable. Then, on closer inspection, the family resemblance becomes apparent, the red hair from their father, the Duke of Sussex, revealing that they are Charles’s grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.' She added: 'It’s an image that would surely go viral, pinging on smartphones around the world... For the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it would be the ultimate money shot.'
