Harry and Meghan's Promise Before George Starts Eton

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have promised not to generate news in any way that could hijack Prince George's first day at Eton College next week. The 13-year-old is set to join his new school on September 1, with the school's website confirming the new term begins then.

Meghan and Harry arrived back in the UK on Wednesday, just days before their nephew starts his new journey. The couple and their two children are said to have flown into Birmingham airport on Wednesday afternoon.

Assurances to the King

Royal broadcaster Neil Sean told Fox News Digital: "The Sussexes have assured the King that they will not hijack or derail major royal events, notably the first day of school term for Prince George at Eton."

"By that, no pictures or comment from either one on that day in September."

George's Transition to Eton

George's transition to his new school was announced earlier this year, with Prince William and Princess Catherine releasing an official statement confirming that their eldest son will follow in his dad's footsteps by joining the prestigious school. Like his older brother, Prince Harry also attended Eton College between 1998 and 2003.

Royal commentator Amanda Matta also told the publication: "Prince George’s start at Eton isn’t just a personal milestone; it’s the beginning of his public-facing path as heir to the throne."

Impact on the Wales Brand

"The Palace is incredibly protective of that narrative, and any competing headline — especially one involving Harry and Meghan — threatens to distract from the ‘steady, future-focused’ brand the Prince and Princess of Wales have worked so hard to build."

Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, will also be starting new schools next week as they settle into their new lives in the UK. Prince George's two younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, will be starting new terms at his former school, Lambrook School in Berkshire.
