Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's possible new neighbour, interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, has shared a brutal nickname for the Duchess of Sussex: the "Duchess of Beige."
The Sussexes have returned to the UK for their first permanent stay in six years, settling into their new life after arriving earlier this week. While there is no official confirmation of their exact location, strong rumours suggest they may be living in the Cotswolds, a picturesque South West region popular with celebrities.
A Colourful Welcome
Laurence, famed for appearing on BBC's Changing Rooms, spoke exclusively about the couple. He said he would "welcome them with open arms" into his Llewelyn Bowen Pattern Emporium store in the region, offering help with "cushions or curtains."
"But I'm not entirely sure we're ever going to be Meghan's cup of tea," he continued. "What we do is very colourful. It's probably far too exciting for the Duchess of Beige, but we can try. Certainly if she wants to be taken seriously by the ladies of the area, owning a couple of LLB cushions would definitely push her in the right direction."
Nickname Sticks
Laurence doubled down on the nickname, adding: "I think that might just stick. Duchess of Beige. Jackie [his wife] just said from the driving seat, she's going to really struggle wearing white jeans where we are, it's very muddy."
This is not the first time Laurence has commented on the Sussexes. He previously warned that locals in the Cotswolds can "smell b******t" and that Meghan must be "confident" in who she wants to be.
Local Reactions and Future Plans
Other Cotswolds residents have also voiced their opinions on welcoming the couple. One demanded they "get lost" and take celebrity pal Ellen De Generes with them.
Harry and Meghan quit as senior royals in 2020 and had a brief stint in Canada before settling in California. They are now said to be eyeing up properties upwards of £10million in the UK. King Charles, meanwhile, is said to be hoping his son's return could spark a thawing in his relationship with brother Prince William.
